📝 Reflection
Ruth 2: 10-12
Ruth fell at his feet and thanked him warmly. “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” She asked. “I am only a foreigner.”
“Yes I know,” Boaz replied. “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband. I have heard how you left your father and mother and your own land to live here among complete strangers. May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.”
Doesn’t your heart melt a bit just at reading this exchange? To summarize this short but powerful book of Ruth, the concept of surrendered hearts came to mind 💞. Surrender for some conjures up ideas of submission, weakness and/or giving up. But this couldn’t be further from the truth. Surrender involves a combination of, or a partnership if you will, with other characteristics or attitudes like; gratefulness, faith, patience, humbleness, trust, obedience mindfulness, curiosity, and selflessness. When you have a group of people in relationship that are all living individually in a surrendered heart to God, look what masterpiece you can create together! As a new family is formed and Boaz and Ruth eventually get married, they have a son, Obed, who is the grandfather of King David. This is a full circle moment back to the concept of legacy! WOW! When you can get yourself out of the way and surrender, that is when you really become great, because it is not just you trying to be great on your own. It is allowing God’s Super to be lived out through your natural to create supernatural lives and events in HIStory!
This Rise and Shine ✨Together adventure is my own attempt at surrendering and getting out of my own way and letting God be God in my life and through my living and breathing. This is not an attempt to be super spiritual and posture and teach and finger wag! Believe you me that I have got nothing figured out! This is me surrendering daily, being obedient to getting out of my own way and inviting God in to take over and learn what he has to teach me!
Really learn - not academically but practically. It is often said that knowledge is power, but it isn’t! Knowledge applied is power. Knowledge is only powerful when acted upon and then moved into the heart for ‘true knowing’. This activation of knowledge requires faith to step into the unseen and the unknown and manifest a not only a new reality but a shift in your understanding of reality!
I hope you truly take time to reflect and think about this! Does this peak your curiosity enough to have your own surrender experiment? In order to make lasting change you have do things differently. So if you are on a hamster wheel with anything in your life that you feel like you might get ‘momentary’ control over, but then find yourself right back where you started. I invite you to get curious and forget about what you ‘think you know’ and see if that hamster wheel track can flatten out and you can finally actually get somewhere new with a surrendered heart!
