Day 239- Proving the Unprovable

📝 Reflection
John 5: 31-34
“If I were to testify on my own behalf, my testimony would not be valid. But someone else is also testifying about me, and I assure you that everything he says about me is true. In fact, you sent investigators to listen to John the Baptist, and his testimony about me was true. Of course, I have no need of human witnesses, but I say these things so you might be saved.”
39-44
“You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life. because I know you don’t have God’s love within you. For I have come to you in my Father’s name, and you have rejected me. Yet if others come in their own name, you gladly welcome them. No wonder you can’t believe! For you gladly honor each other, but you don’t care about the honor that comes from the one who alone is God.”
We are truly spiritual beings having a physical experience. The physical experience limits our spiritual experience. Our challenge and the adventure of the human life is to lean into and take the limits off and experience the fullness of what Jesus came to offer. It seems so unbelievable to us and too good to be true. So doubt and living in the busyness and distraction of this life seems the better option. Maybe ultimately we are so afraid of going for it and being disappointed that we would rather just not even try fully. Maybe we will feel foolish for trying to prove what seems is unprovable. Yet there are those who are living proof - Jesus is of course the ultimate living proof.
The only way to prove the unprovable is through first hand experience, to learn, step out in faith and to allow ourselves to be tested. Now in this life we can’t avoid being tested, we all know that, but we can learn to have a different experience while being tested, we prepare and study and internalize the knowledge. We take tests with more confidence and learn to have a different perspective after the testing seasons of life. Through this process you will become living proof also, you will have your own testimony and be able to testify to the truth. This is how we do it one life at a time.
But God did this really interesting thing, he gave us free will. Each of us gets the opportunity and the invitation but we have to accept. We get to choose to learn, be prepared, study, and know. We get to think about how we are thinking. This is what sets humans apart, our ability to transcend and grow in our levels of consciousness. This is a choice though, it is not a given. We hear the invitation but we don’t listen, we want proof first. We are the proof, will you believe in yourself enough to prove it?
