📝 Reflection
Deuteronomy 8: 4 “For all these forty years your clothes didn’t wear out, and your feet didn’t blister or swell.”
As I read these words this morning they stood out to me because how often do we take some of our circumstances for granted because we are so used to them that we forget to be grateful or even see it as ‘provision’. Most of us have shelter, electricity and running water here in America. We can get so focused on what is going wrong or not our way that we can forget to be grateful for all that we do have. At the time this is being written we are still living through the Covid 19 pandemic, this is certainly a good reminder of this collectively. That is a silver lining of such a time as this. No matter what time you are living in or reading this, there is always a good reminder to look towards to help you put things in perspective.
As much as we need to zoom out and keep the big picture in mind, we also can benefit from zooming way in and being grateful for all of the good things that you don’t even think about regularly. You don’t have to think about breathing, blinking, heart beating, thinking, etc…
Like the Israelites we need to be reminded of how for forty years in the wilderness it was God’s supernatural provision for their clothes to last and their feet to carry them without failing.
I am going to keep this short and sweet and let God speak to your heart and shift your perspective and allow gratitude to flow through you like oxygen flows through your veins right now in your life giving blood.
This morning I chose a different spot on our nearby lake and spent some time looking at all the birds that were being provided for even in the frigid temps in the freezing water during the sunrise and was reminded of Matthew 6:26:
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
✍🏼Daily Journal Prompt
What can you take time to remember and be grateful for today? It takes just a spark of true gratitude to light the flame of hope which can burn and turn into Joy.
