Exodus 37: 6-9
'Then he made the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—from pure gold. It was 45 inches long and 27 inches wide. He made two cherubim from hammered gold and placed them on the two ends of the atonement cover. He molded the cherubim on each end of the atonement cover, making it all of one piece of gold. The cherubim faced each other and looked down on the atonement cover. With their wings spread above it, they protected it. '
Ok, we have gone deep for a few days now. Time to come up for air and take a deep breath. Even as you are reading this I would love for you to take a moment and breathe deep, let your shoulders relax, open your heart and mind and receive the blessing and the truth that it is not all up to you! Isn’t that a relief! Some of us (🙋♀️) walk around like a ‘little g’ god or Atlas with the world on our shoulders. The good news of going deep and keeping a bigger perspective and being intentional with our lives and realizing that we are all connected is that we also are connected to our Creator and that means that we have help! “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!” (Psalms 121:2 NLT). This is really good news, if you need a pick me up and reassurance of this truth go read all of Psalm 121.
As I continued reading Exodus, there is so much to unpack. Looking at it from a high level we can see that Moses is never alone nor are the Israelites, they have help from The Lord all along the way directly and indirectly. Moses is provided a partner, then he is provided a mentor and advisor, then then he is provided with a team, then a court system, then guidance on decision making from the larger 10 commandments to the details, he is provided a community that is untied in the purpose of building the Tabernacle, the Ark etc… The people are also provided for in a similar way, they are also gifted with resources and talents which gladly offer back to God and put them to work for the common good and for literally building God a dwelling among them.
Is the Tabernacle a foreshadowing of Christ? God certainly demonstrated in Genesis he didn’t need our help to create things, and yet here He gets intimately involved with His people and has them build Him a home of His specific design that is also portable. He will depend on His people to transport Him in this dwelling with them. Does this get your brain and heart going? It sure does for me! He also talks about gift people with talents and wisdom to accomplish this, he gives them instructions, plans and time and rest. He spends a lot of time on the importance of the Sabbath. He wants His people resting and and recharging by zooming out and taking a break from their ordinary work and thinking about their purpose and whose they are and thanking God for the blessing of life etc..
✍🏼Daily Journal Prompt
As I am writing this it is a Wednesday which is the middle of our work week. I think this is a good time to take a deep breath and take a Sabbath moment for yourself and recharge yourself for the rest of the week and thank God for the gift of His help, provision, love, life etc..
