📝 Reflection
“What is impossible with man is possible with God” Luke 18:27
Woohoo! You have come a long way baby! Time to pause and enjoy the view. Look at where you were and how far you have come- moment by moment, step by step, and day by day. The time passes anyway- yet you have chosen to use the time to work towards a goal. Yay you! Maybe your goal has now been achieved, maybe it you still have a way to go, whatever the case - you have made progress and that deserves a 🎉 moment of recognition. Let’s not just stop there though, lets also take some time to look around from this new vantage point, look ahead to what might be possible if you keep going? Are you curious about what is possible. Dream a little, envision this, embody it…. Can you see it? Can you feel it? Then guess what you can see and you can feel it and you can achieve it!
I used to not think or believe this way, but a seed of curiosity was planted years ago by listening and watching people who were living at a higher level through doing things like quitting drinking, early morning routines, fitness, healthy living, visioning, building legacies of faith etc… That seed started to take root and took a hold of my mind and heart, to such an extent that I had to see where this path could take me - I HAD to know. No more flirting with trying to straddle the fence and having my ‘cake’ and eating it too. That is an exhausting and frustrating place to live even though going down this new unknown path seems quite intimidating too. 🏞 The longer I am on it the more I want to be on it - it is invigorating, adventurous, challenging and inspiring- I can’t imagine living any other way now! All Glory to God, I thank him everyday for His vision and provision for me!
I believe God gives us visions that inspire us and causes our souls to stir for a reason. He has put or allowed people, things, ideas, books, music to be put in your path for a reason. He speaks our language because he created it. He knows and loves you that intimately. What has been rattling around in your brain and heart that you have allowed to stay hidden and thought, yeah, but “that might be for other people, but not me”? In your wildest dreams are you a writer, artist, musician, mountain-climber, business owner, teacher, lawyer, archeologist(🙋♀️), chef, athlete …. You get my drift. As you take time to celebrate what you have already achieved that may have seemed impossible even just 21 short days ago, also take time to see the possibilities ahead of you!
For me choosing an alcohol free lifestyle opened the door🚪and gave me the mental space, clarity and energy to start making a lots of things that just seemed ‘too much’, out of reach or flat out impossible now completely possible and happening. Is there something you need to let go of that is consuming too much of your precious life force and getting in the way? Getting alcohol out of the picture, also allowed me to see the real reasons why I was needing to take the ‘edge’ off. The real problems in my life were the lack of boundaries, the disease to please, feeling like I was responsible for other people vs responsible to them, lack of self care…. Like many women today- I was ‘over functioning’ in many areas of my life which left me under functioning in others. I now have more balance, peace and fulfillment. It has been worth every ounce of effort! Even though I truly celebrate how far I have come, I know and remain humbled by how by far I still have to go, and I am excited for every bit of it! It is a lifelong quest!
