📝 Reflection
Colossians 1: 15-17, 26-27
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see - such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.
This message was kept secret for centuries and generations past, but now it has been revealed to God’s people. For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This give you assurance of sharing his glory.
The secret: Christ lives in you. This is worth meditating on e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y. Christ who existed before creation and is supreme over all creation, and who created creation. Who gave creation the power to keep creating and recreating. He created you and he lives in you. I also like to substitute the word love here. Love created you and love lives in you. Love creates more love, grace, hope, patience, kindness, gentleness, acceptance, endurance, faithfulness, joy, peace, selflessness, abundance, aliveness, rebirth. All of these create heaven on earth, they save us from ourselves and create order.
Evil or living only by our ego, flesh, survival or false selves (call it what you want) creates things like counterfeit love with strings attached, hate, anger, pride, jealously, greed, deceit, laziness, lust, gluttony, fear, perfectionism, and legalism. All of these things destroy and create chaos.
Because we have free will we have the freedom to choose our path and what we create. It all starts in our thoughts. The law helped us to get started because the behaviors of following the law produce some pretty good things, but when it is done only in and for ourselves and then we find our own goodness in following the law, we cross over to the ‘dark’ side. The law veils the truth and blocks God’s true love from being received. Grace when truly understood should cause the veil to be torn and removed.
I find it interesting that in the English language that the words live, veil and evil all have the same letters. Evil is live spelled backwards, veil is inside out, and live is straightforward. What are you going to create with your life? It all begins in our minds, our thoughts create our beliefs which create our hearts and our experience of reality. We are energetic beings we are not just flesh and blood. We are part of the eternal Christ, and Christ in you and me and in us. We are part of the oneness, the everyoneness, the everythingness. Even those who choose evil and are veiled from the truth of their own essence.
Jesus role modeled this truth, the way of being. Paul and the apostles, saints and many since have also tried and succeeded to walk in the way and be role models and way showers. I think the veil is slowing being pulled away from my heart. I hope to join the league of way showers one day. I think this is worth being obsessed and possessed by. Love and light are the way out of the darkness of the ego. Falling in love with reality and isness in all of its variations of experience. God is and I am.
