📝 Reflection

Galatians 6: 7-9

“Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.”

No matter how much you want to, deny, try to game the system, ignore, blame, convince yourself your are a victim you can’t escape the laws of nature and God. The law of the harvest says that you reap what you sow. Our lives are the sum of our choices and habits. Even if at moments in time you truly didn’t have a choice and were a victim, when you are an adult it is a choice beyond that if you choose to still be a victim or blame and give the power of your choice away.

Many of us even like to make God our scapegoat, either by blaming and/or by waiting for him to do the work for us. If you want to move mountains he will hand you a shovel. Faith is active it is not sitting and waiting. Many of us get this backwards and then get angry and bitter.

This was a cross roads that I myself have been at many times.  I finally had to come to the end of myself and finally realize I had a choice. Which means that I had to own that my consequences were a result of MY choices, no one else’s, and I was the only one who could get me where I said wanted. Decision time. One of my favorite authors and coaches, Trevor Moawad says it this way. Choice is and illusion. If you really want what you say you want then ‘it takes what it takes’. Byron Katie says it this way; we suffer when we argue with reality, only 100% of the time.

I was reaping what I had sown for years and it was showing up in my life and it was overwhelming to think about how much work it was going to take to plant a new field (life) and cultivate that and a lot of blood, sweat, tears and tiiiiiiiimmme to create a new harvest. But let me tell you that it is worth every bit of effort!

I was having a moment during my quiet time this morning and enjoying my hot coffee. ☕️ I put my coffee down as I was meditating and then when I picked it back up it was luke warm. I sat there and realized that this was a great metaphor. I took a couple of sips and consciously knew that I was not enjoying it any more at this temperature. But I took another sip and thought is it worth it to get back up and warm it up or get a new cup? Is it that big of a deal. I am pretty comfortable, that will require me to get up, get out of my comfortable position etc… I am not kidding I really went through this thought process this morning. It is these micro thoughts that create our life though.

How we do one thing is how we do everything. How many of us allow our lives to be luke warm. Believing that it is fine, it is good enough, who am I to want more? If I go for more will it make others uncomfortable, will it be hard, will I be judged… and so we drink our luke warm coffee. BTW, I did get up and warm my coffee up and it was worth it.

I did sit down with myself five years ago and began the process of waking up, taking the power of my choice back, accepting responsibility for my choice and the harvest I was experiencing in my life, owning it and getting to work of learning to be and do things in a new way.

Has it been hard? Absolutely!

Has it been scary? Absolutely!

Has it made others unhappy with me at times? Absolutely!

Have I been judged? Absolutely!

Have I had to follow through and get uncomfortable to live up to my word? Absolutely

Have I wanted to give up at times and just go back to luke warm and good enough? Yes

Have I persevered through those times and kept going anyway? Yes

Has it been worth it? Absolutely!

I am never going back to luke warm!!

It is my life and I lay my head down on my pillow everyday with satisfaction knowing that I am living with purpose, passion, doing my best, having faith in God’s design of me and that I am here for a reason and to not fear but to live out loud with and in love. We are made in love by love for love. When I am living in my purpose and I take care of myself and overflowing with love, I am taking care of God’s greatest gift. I am a living holy temple and so are you! It is not about me AND it is all about me. I am part of the I am. I am a home to and an expression of The I AM.

✍🏼Daily Journal Prompt

We cannot escape the law of the harvest, no more than we can escape the law of gravity. What are you harvesting? What do you want to harvest? Are you willing to take your power of choice back and live differently?
